40th Annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival Opening Ceremonies
The opening ceremonies for the 40th annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30th. Premier Ralph Klein and the Honourable Gary Mar, Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations, joined representatives from the Smithsonian, the US Congress and the other featured Folklife participants. Alberta artists Corb Lund and Asani provided entertainment for over 1,500 people.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police welcomed visitors to the Northern Lights Stage, the location of the opening ceremonies.
